New Beginnings

This is my second attempt at a blog.  If you want the whole "intro to me" stuff, go here.  Otherwise, you'll just have to figure out who I am as we go.  And that's ok, because that's what I am doing too.

Recently, I have moved out of my parents' house in Washington State to an apartment in Provo, Utah.  It's a lot different here, and there are a ton of new things to get used to....like cooking.  I'm a pretty big fan of food, but trying to figure out what to make and doing it on a budget (aka broke) is one of the hardest things I've had to do.  I'm getting used to not having my family in the same house as me, which is hard.  And sad.  I love my family, and I think that the absolute, hands-down biggest adjustment to moving out has been not being able to come home from work every day and having someone there who I know is genuinely interested in how my day was, whether or not I need any help with anything for the rest of the day, and not being able to just talk to them.  It's weird feeling like a stranger in your own home, because I really don't know the other people who live here.  I have two roommates for this summer, and they have been wonderful, but it's just different.  Your family has known you your whole life, so you don't have to make small talk with them to keep it from being a little bit awkward.

But.  I'm learning to deal with all these changes.  I have a job that I love, I have a few good friends here in Provo and the surrounding areas, and my sister and brother-in-law live about 5 minutes away (by car....so when they come to me :).

I'm really excited for the opportunities that await me in the next year.  I am going to be going to college at Brigham Young University in September (which means moving AGAIN, but into the freshman dorms, which are going to be AWESOME), I'll be studying psychology and working towards being a marriage and family therapist, I am going to keep working at the Missionary Training Center for the LDS church, and with any luck start working on my own mission papers so that I can serve a mission after the winter semester.

I started this blog so that I could write about whatever I want, whether it's philosophical, ranting, raving, fangirling (look it up), or posting about the awesome new product or recipe that I've just tried.  I just wanted a space to write, which is something that I've missed a lot since the end of school.  I never thought I'd say that....

So, come along, if you wish.  I've got a big journey ahead, and I'm diving in headfirst.
